Happy New Years Everyone!!! I wish you all a safe and prosperous 2012.  Ok with that being said, take a careful look at this house to the right.  Stare at it.  If you happen to be a first time home buyer DO NOT PURCHASE this property.  Let’s take a trip down memory lane and you will see why.  4775 Eastern street has termites, a major foundation problem, and needs approximately 30k dollars worth of work.  (I have the inspection papers to prove it)  Anyways, about $2000 dollars was spent on this home.  I didn’t even purchase this mass load of crap.  The situation sucks even more because I can only blame myself.  Here is why……Piss poor consulting plus piss poor financing equals…. A LESSON LEARNED.

Consequently I showed little patience and it came back to bite me in the butt.  Many family members and friends warned me to slow down, be patient, and take my time.  Hmmmm, come to find out those words of advice are not only limited to just buying a house.  Relationships, careers, and pretty much anything that involves energy/effort/money/time should be carefully evaluated.  Here are 3 ways to help out:

1. In relationships-please, pretty please, DO NOT use the word “love” loosely. I was once told “I love you” and 24 hours later “I don’t love you “.  BE PATIENT!!!
2. In finances-think before you sign. No refunds or exchanges is a hell of a policy.
3. In careers-weigh the pros and cons. A real job trumps actual work.(Jeez, I sure hope ya’ll know the difference)

It has been way too long since my last post.  My apologies, time flies when you are having fun.  Nevertheless I am back and better than ever.  Now 2011 was not bad at all. Let’s not ponder on past transgressions because that’s unhealthy.(But please learn from past mistakes, its the only way to grow as a mature adult)  We live, we laugh and we love, but most important we MOVE ON.  Needless to say, Bring on 2012.  Why????

• I have a very strong feeling ALL businesses in New Orleans will prosper.  The Sugar Bowl, BCS National Championship(GeauxTigers!!!), the NCAA Final Four, several major conventions, and Super Bowl 47 in 2013 will bring a huge economic impact to the Nola.
• I am 30 years old dammit!!! Take me or leave me. Remember what Polonius said to his son Laertes?? (READ A BOOK!!)  ”To thine own self be true”.  Please, and I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT change who you are to appease others.  If you are a pig don’t change into a horse just to lay up with some cow.  Think about it.
• More reading, less social networking.  I have deactivated my facebook account to focus more on what is important.  Reading is fundamental.  Reading brings knowledge and knowledge is power.  I can’t name a single successful person who actually visits facebook daily.  Moreover, studies have shown that people who go on facebook during work hours lack creativity, so you know who you are.
• Smile……Life is short.

2012 will be an awesome year for everyone, especially if you want it to be.  Personally many changes are in my near future.  Please be patient with me and those people who are going thru multiple transitions in life.  I am striving for perfection, naw scratch that, I want to strive for greatness.  A close friend of mine told me “don’t wait until the new year to get your act together, start now”.  So let us all aim for greatness now, so when 2012 comes its just routine.

People have a tendency to settle.  We become complacent.  Too many times humans accept mediocrity and become trapped in a black-hole.  The word “average” is OK to most Americans.  “C” students are more popular than Lady GaGa and the BET awards.  Nevertheless, I’m tired of surrounding myself with average people.  I WANT WINNERS!! (http://youtu.be/iWuUGG_Ujf8) Is there a problem with positive, successful, ambitious, go-getter’s around me?  I WANT WINNERS!  Winners do not accept minor setbacks or failure.  Winners produce.  Winners do not make up random inadequate excuses nor seek self pity for past transgressions.  A winner believes that they will persevere and destroy ANY obstacle in his or her way.  Please understand that nobody is perfect.  We will not go undefeated in the game of life, but I be damn if I finish at .500/even par/a tie/a draw.  Bona fide winners DO NOT accept handouts or charity! What has worth is worth paying for.  Winning has its worth! You don’t exchange a royal straight flush for a pair of hearts; Knowingly being around sub-par underachieving people is inexcusable.  Look deep down into yourself and ask “Am I a winner”?  Every person walking this earth has the God given ability to be a WINNER, NO EXCUSES!

Fyi: This blog entry was written while stuck in Phoenix due to inclement weather and engine failure. Sorry for not broadcasting my Las Vegas trip but I felt it would be ”bad luck.”

At 29 years old (making 30 in October) several ideas have come to my attention:

1. Being popular isn’t as important to me.
2. Beer just doesn’t taste the same.
3. Wine and cigars are like steak and eggs
4. If traveling were a drug, I need rehab.
5. I hate to admit it but……MY HAIR JUST WONT GROW!!!
6. I’m sure not going to let good people come and go out of my life.

So am I maturing? Does maturity come with age? Yes, no maybe so?  People are all unique and we tend to “mature” at different stages.  Quite frankly, maturity is over-rated.  We show maturity through actions, but most time those actions can be forced (such as teenage pregnancy or being a single parent).  Question: Is it “mature” for a 20 year old sophomore in college to opt out of school to enter the NBA draft?  Or is it “mature” for that same young man to stay in school and make his mom proud because he is the only person in the family to graduate from college? Depending on the situation right?!?!?!  So clearly maturity is subjective?  Can maturity be linked to success? I only ask because it seems as if the phrase “grow up” and “mature” were catch phrases that our parents used on repeated occasions, at least mines did, and still do.

Yes, I’m sick and tired of Thanksgiving!!! Please let me explain…Shouldn’t we be thankful everyday? Let’s face it nobody likes “fat”.  No one likes being called “fat”, nobody likes too much “fat” on their meat, and even hitting a golf ball “fat” is a bad thing.   Why not eliminate or “trim” the fat in your life?  Here is how you can:

Spiritually-develop a loving, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Remember this: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Only through Christ can a person truly receive salvation and gain entrance into heaven.

Physically-this one is easier said than done.  Try to exercise one or more hours a day, three times a week.  Nutrition is very underrated.  Maintaining the proper eating habits can go along way in your physical well-being.  It is extremely important to eat VEGETABLES!! Keep  your fried-food intake to a minimum.  Cook rather than dine out(this can help your pockets as well as knowing what is in what you eat). I HATE to say this being the PralinePrince but…cut down on sugars!!  Remember, you are what you eat.  Please enjoy alcohol in moderation(I know, I know)

Mentally-Here is where the rubber meets the road and I can personally say I’ve done it.  Mentally trimming fat includes: 1) Eliminating people in your life who are FOS. 2) Keeping the past behind you. (Fella’s stop txt’ing your ex and ladies, let him go). 3) Create a tight bond with true friends and family.  4) Always despise the “free lunch”, there are many people in life who you will never please, so take notice.  Moreover, three final suggestions, use absence to create respect, re-create yourself, and finally my favorite…..ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN!!  Don’t be like C. Brown, M. Vick, O.J, and Tiger.
